Claire found her way back to herself through yoga, meditation and intuitive eating. All have played an important role in her healing journey.

I’m Claire Elliott, founder of Claire Elliott Coaching and Yoga.
I’m a yoga and meditation teacher and coach for mothers of young children specialising in helping mothers go from burnout to thriving in motherhood and being the best mothers they can be.
I’m on a mission to help mothers choose themselves and come back from motherhood burnout.
I’m a mother to a beautiful little girl, she’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I’m married to a wonderful man and we have a gorgeous little black cat who completes our little family.
I went into motherhood with my people pleasing and perfectionist tendencies. I was trying to be everything to everyone, up for hours in the night with my little one, working all day and trying desperately to do it all. All to prove I was good enough.
I was exhausted and overwhelmed all of the time and raging inside at the unfairness of it all.
I wasn’t listening to my body even though it had been screaming at me to slow down for years.
Then I reached breaking point.
My appendix burst and I ended up in hospital for an emergency operation and was heartbreakingly away from my little girl for five days.
Something had to change for my family and I, and it did.
I finally CHOSE MYSELF.
I made the commitment to put together all I had learned since my healing journey began in 2011 when I was diagnosed with PTSD from trauma, to be the best mum I could be.
I rejected the good girl persona, stopped trying to shrink myself in every way and started asking: Where am I in this?
I’d read all the books, completed the training courses but it was so generalised and I had to go deeper to get the breakthrough I so badly wanted, I considered my trauma points, triggers along with my personality and my lifestyle. It was through bringing everything together in a powerful, coherent way, that I developed my own process to heal and finally became the mother I knew I could be.
I decided life happens for me not to me, stopped rushing so much, became okay with not pleasing everyone and letting some people not like me. I employed some powerful NLP techniques, along with meditation and other tools to come back to my body and back to my peaceful centre.
Having practised yoga for over 20 years and meditation for over 12 years, I put myself first and completed my Yoga and Meditation Teacher Training. This took my yoga and meditation practices to the next level in body mind and spirit and helped me heal my nervous system. Yoga doesn’t just happen on the mat, it helps me feel more grounded in every area of life including the messiness of parenting, enhances my connection to myself, enabling me to better cope with life’s ups and downs and show up for myself off the mat.
I went against the grain when it came to nutrition and started eating to nourish my body mind and soul to find food freedom – having tried a lot of healthy eating regimes over the years (actually diets in disguise) I used my master’s degree in nutrition and food science, along with intuitive eating principles and other modalities, to heal my relationship with food and body and began taking really good care of my physical self as well as nourishing my soul.
I got really clear on my energy drains & took my self-care to the next level by interpreting all the modalities I am trained in and implementing the tools that really work for me with my unique traumas, triggers, beliefs, upbringing and temperament. I left teaching – a job that was damaging my health and keeping me from being present with my daughter.
I used my knowledge and expertise, including my neurolinguistic programming (NLP) training, to navigate difficult conversations, spoke up for myself and advocated for my daughter in huge ways. I put in place strong boundaries to protect my energy, said no to others and yes to myself.
I am a Leo – a fiery, feisty lion, yet I have mostly a calm exterior, and finding and using my voice has been a big part of my healing journey as well as learning healthy ways to release anger and other emotions that had been stuck in my body for so long.
I have a beautiful little firecracker, she’s smart, funny, kind, strong-willed, full of energy and also highly sensitive like me. I am helping her manage that fire rather than putting it out!!
There is so much unwanted noise around how we should be raising our kids.
I now know deeply that I am the best mum I can be, that I am creating a beautiful life for my daughter and our little family. I get to do motherhood MY way!
